Introduction
Fiscalization of PoS and cash register systems in Italy has been in place since 1983. In 2015 the Legislative decree No. 127/2015, applicable as of 2018, introduced new technical requirements that are now the basis for a tamper-proof operation of cash registers in Italy.
The electronic storage and telematic transmission of daily transactions can be done through the usage of:
- fiscal printers or telematic register devices (RT devices),
- the web procedure as an alternative to the RT devices, or
- software solutions, as approved in January 2024 but awaiting the approval of technical specifications (Expected / Coming soon 2025)
SIGN IT is a platform-independent and software-only solution. SIGN IT is a RESTful API, that can only operate with a stable internet connection.
SIGN IT Lite
The Lite version of SIGN IT API allows to issue fully compliant commercial documents through an automatic connection to the Revenue Agency’s Web Portal - Online Commercial Document.
This service can be used by all Italian VAT number holders, through the authentication with Fisconline credentials, to transmit to the Revenue Agency any sales, return or cancellation B2C transactions. It is not possible to delegate the use of this service to intermediaries.
The basic process of compliance consists of:
- The PoS or cash register is equipped with SIGN IT API.
- The Fisconline credentials are provided to access the Web Portal of the Revenue Agency.
- The creation and transmission of the receipt is done in real time through SIGN IT API to the Revenue Agency "Online Commercial Document procedure".
